Cycle To Work Day: September 13th
Looking for the motivation to buy UK road bikes and start getting more exercise on a daily basis? Then let Cycle to Work Day be just the inspiration you’re looking for, taking place this year on September 13th.
It’s actually the campaign’s fifth birthday, having started back in 2013 – and it’s great to hear that the event gets bigger year by year. The premise is simple – all the organisers want to do is encourage adults all over the UK to get on their bikes and try out cycle commuting for just one day.
The idea is that by doing so, more people will be encouraged to start biking to work more frequently – a very quick and easy way to improve your health and fitness, be a bit more eco-friendly and really help give your overall wellbeing a serious boost into the bargain.
For employers, now’s the perfect time to remind your members of staff about Cycle to Work Day. You can encourage them to bike in on the day or you could consider running an event, whether it’s just offering out free coffee and cake, or teaming up with a local retailer to really help inspire your employees.
If you do take part this year and are inspired to get on your bike, why don’t you think about renting one for a few days so you can start practising your riding before you buy? If you’ve not ridden a bike since childhood, this might be a good idea! And don’t forget to read your Highway Code so you know what the rules of the road are for cyclists.
