6 Tips To Help You Buy UK BMX Bikes
If you’re new to the world of UK BMX bikes, it can be something of a minefield buying your first set of wheels… but luckily, we here at BD Price Bikes are always here to help so here are few hints and tips to help you make sure you get the bike that’s right for you.
Know what you want to do
There are different styles of riding so you should decide where you’re going to be and what you’re going to be doing before you go shopping. Do you want to ride on the street? What about dirt trails? Have a think about it and then come in and talk to us about the different options available.
Find the right size
Bikes come in all sorts of different sizes and you don’t want your handlebars to be too low or too narrow, or your top tubes to be too small for you. Going to a shop to try before you buy is wise – if you can, give the bike a test ride to see if it’s comfy. Remember that you can always cut wide bars down to suit your taste, but there’s nothing you can do about narrow bars beyond buying a new set.
Think about weight
Your first bike doesn’t have to be super lightweight, but you do need one that’s light enough that you can control it, keep your energy levels up and be easy for you to manoeuvre.
Look out for sealed bearings
If you buy unsealed bearings they can come loose and your bike will need more work done to it to ensure a smooth ride. Sealed bearings will mean you can ride clean for a lot longer.
